2005

Facility Design Award

The Ohio Parks and Recreation Association (OPRA) honored the new Fairfield Community Arts Center with its 2005 Facility Design Award with a rating of Superior, the Association’s highest level of recognition. The OPRA 2005 Awards of Excellence recognized the new Center in the $5,000,001 to $10,000,000 category. The 40,000 square foot center, which opened in May 2005, houses a 250-seat, state-of-theart theater, a multi-purpose community/banquet room with a terrace overlooking the Village Green Park, an arts and crafts studio, a dance and fitness room, a Senior Citizens lounge, children’s activity room, classroom and art gallery.

Project of the Year

Two separate accolades were earned by the Fairfield Public Works Department for emergency repairs to East River Road after torrential rainstorms caused the Great Miami River to undermine the roadway near Cincinnati’s Bolten Water Plant in 2004. The road was impassable and was immediately closed to all traffic. Recognizing the importance of the road to the 6,000 motorists using it daily, a temporary road was installed around the damaged area to carry traffic while extensive repairs were undertaken.
