Arthur E. Pizzano, City Manager

Arthur E. Pizzano was appointed to the position of Fairfield City Manager in 1998. He previously served as City Manager for the City of West Des Moines, Iowa, and has held several Planning and Economic Development positions in Thornton, Colorado and in his hometown of East Orange, New Jersey. Art's career includes over 3 decades of local government experience.

Mr. Pizzano is a graduate of Rutgers University, where he earned a Master of City and Regional Planning Degree and his B.A. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Colorado. Additionally, Art has attended the Colorado Outward Bound School and the Rocky Mountain Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government. He is a graduate of Leadership Iowa, The Denver Community Leadership Forum, Leadership Cincinnati and Leadership Fairfield Class #1.

Art has served on the Executive Committee of the Fitton Center for Creative Arts and Senior Citizens, Inc. He also has been a Board member of Employers Resource Group and the Center for Local Government. Art has chaired the Ft. Hamilton District Nominating Committee for the Boy Scouts of America, served on the Board of Butler County United Way and has been a member of Rotary International since 1986. He is currently a member of the Miami University -Hamilton Community Advisory Board and the Butler Tech Business Advisory Committee.

Mr. Pizzano is a credentialed member of the International City Management Association (ICMA), and has received a variety of national, state and regional awards for Innovation, Cooperative Service Delivery, and Effective Public/Private Partnerships. Art has been an Adjunct Instructor at Fairleigh Dickinson University and has also taught at Rutgers University. He earned the prestigious National Public/Private Partnerships Award from the International City Management Association (ICMA) in recognition of the City of Fairfield's Village Green development. Art's work has been published several times, including a chapter in a book published by ICMA entitled "The Entrepreneur in Local Government."
