Beautiful Fairfield Contest expanded for 2008 edition

The contest is back and the competition will be improving — literally — as the Fairfield Building and Zoning Division returns with its Beautiful Fairfield Contest. This year’s contest has been expanded to offer three divisions, with three prizes to be awarded in each division.

As with last year’s contest, homeowners can enter a significant landscaping project or a home improvement project (interior or exterior). The home improvement division, however, will offer two categories: those under $5,000 and those with a value of $5,000 and up.

Winners in each of the three divisions will vie for one of three top spots, each receiving a gift certificate from Jungle Jim’s or Kroger. Those judged as first place winners will receive a $500 gift certificate. Second place winners will receive a $200 gift certificate. Third place winners get a $100 gift certificate.

All winners will also receive an attractive yard sign identifying their property 1st, 2nd or 3rd place winners in each of the three divisions.

To enter, a resident will need to complete a brief entry form and submit a “before” and an “after” picture of the project to be considered. Entry forms are available at the Municipal Building or online here. Projects must have been completed after January 1, 2007, to qualify for this year’s contest.

Entries will be accepted until August 31. Judges will consider each entry during the first week of September, with the winners announced on Friday, September 12, during the annual September Dayz celebration in Village Green Park.
