| Welcome: Finance: Pay water/sewer bill Utility ratesWater & sewer chargesWater and sewer charges are based on the amount of water used each month, measured by a meter on the residence or business. The sewer rate is a flat rate of $2.87 per 1,000 gallons of water used. The water rate is based on a combination of a minimum charge (which is accessed according to meter size) plus a charge for additional water used. The rate for minimum usage is $2.35 per 1,000 gallons, with a charge of $1.80 per 1,000 gallons for all additional usage. The following table provides a schedule of minimum charges according to meter size:
Most residential services are served by 3/4" meters, which carry a minimum monthly usage of 3,000 gallons per month. Billing exampleAssume a residential customer uses 6,500 gallons per month. The sewer and water charges would be determined as follows: Sewer Divide the monthly water used by 1,000. 6,500 gallons/1,000 gallons per billing unit = 6.5 The rate for sewer service is $2.87 per billing unit. $2.87 * 6.5 billing units = $18.66 for 6,500 gallons used Water Subtract the minimum monthly use from the total usage. 6,500 gallon - 3,000 gallons = 3,500 gallons The first 3,000 gallons are charged at the minimum charge rate of $2.35 per 1,000 gallons. Additional usage (3,500 gallons) is charged at a base rate of $1.80 per 1,000 gallons. 3,000 gallons/1,000 gallons per billing unit = 3 (at $2.35 minimum charge) 3,500 gallons/1,000 = 3.5 (at $1.80 rate) $2.35 * 3 Billing Units = $7.05 $1.80 * 3.5 Billing Units = $6.30 Water total = $ 13.35 The total sewer and water bill for this month is: Sewer = $18.66 Water = $13.35 Total = $32.01 Trash chargesThe current cost to our customers is $8.10 per month for curbside service and $5.50 for dumpster service Last updated: 4/30/2007 |
