The same kind of Mobile Data Terminals seen inside police cruisers will soon be installed in key fire units.

The new technology will enable detailed information to be transmitted to units while en route to a call. The units will also provide immediate connectivity to information resources to address hazardous material issues, GPS tracking and information sharing with other departments responding through mutual aid calls.

In addition, all software of existing Mobile Data Terminals will be upgraded by Fairfield’s Information Technology staff during the year. The new software will afford more detailed information for an officer when dispatched on a call for service and will enable the officer to begin the incident report at the scene.
