Elementary and secondary schools
Fairfield youth are served by the Fairfield City School District and a few private institutions in the City of Fairfield. These schools strive to provide the best in education for the children of Fairfield.
Providing not only traditional classroom education, the City's primary and secondary schools offer athletic programs, fine arts programs and numerous extracurricular activities.

Fairfield Alternative School
Alternative School students attend school from 7:20 a.m. to 10:26 a.m. and then are dismissed in order to go to a job site. Students earn a grade and school credit according to their performance at that job site. Work-study teachers visit job sites to help determine student progress, to talk to employers about student progress, and to make sure that the job is appropriate for the student.Fairfield Central Elementary School
