The City of Fairfield recruits and hires a staff of skilled and knowledgeable workers to proudly serve the taxpayers of Fairfield.

Job Types

Some of our positions are considered "classified civil service" and require the successful completion of an examination process to be considered. Classified civil service positions include police officer, firefighter/paramedic, account clerk, clerk, meter reader, operator maintenance worker, mechanic and others. "Unclassified" jobs, such as part-time, temporary and seasonal positions, positions in the municipal court, administration, professional and management positions usually do not require an examination.

Aquatic Center Lifeguards
We are accepting applications for seasonal Lifeguards at the Fairfield Aquatic Center now through May 2, 2008. Previous lifeguard experience is helpful, but not necessary.  We will train individuals to become a certified Ellis and Associates Lifeguard. Candidates must be able to pass the Ellis physical pre-test which includes 200 yards of continuous swimming (8 lengths); tread water continuously for 2-minutes without using hands; attending and passing the Ellis Lifeguard class program (20 hours of class time + written & skills test) Hours will vary.

Part-time Seasonal Parks Maintenance
The City of Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for part-time seasonal positions maintaining the City’s parks and green spaces. Successful candidates will have the ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work at heights of up to 40 ft. Hours will vary throughout the season and will include some evenings and weekends when necessary.

Summer Art Camp Counselor
The Fairfield Parks and Recreation department is looking for an energetic and fun person willing to teach or assist with summer art camps. Applicants must be at least 18 years old with prior experience with working with children ages 6-12.  Pay range is from $8 - $15 per hour.  Camps are scheduled from June 10 - August 22, Monday - Friday from 9 am - 6 pm.
