Jim develops and directs a comprehensive program of recreation and leisure services and operates and oversees the operation and maintenance of City parks and recreational facilities.

Background:

Jim has directed Fairfield’s Parks and Recreation Department for more than 20 years and has been employed by the city for almost 30. Prior to his current position, he served as the Recreation Manager for the Village of Palm Springs, Florida and as Fairfield’s assistant parks director.

Under his leadership, the Fairfield Aquatic Center has earned multiple national safety and Golden Guard Awards, and the Fairfield Community Arts Center was honored with the Facility Design Award (OPRA) and Architecture Showcase Award (Athletic Business magazine).

Jim is Chairman of the Butler County Tourism Council, a board member of the Butler County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and Fairfield YMCA Board of Managers and a member of the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association and the National Recreation and Parks Association.

Personal interests/family:

Jim has completed the Boston Marathon and the Ironman World Championship Triathlon. He also enjoys hockey and reading.

He and his wife have two children, and Jim serves as a board member and secretary of the Butler County Youth Hockey Association and a youth sports coach.
