BRUSH AND LIMB PICKUP Due to the massive tree damage from the recent storm, the City of Fairfield is offering a special pickup of brush and limbs. Residents wishing to have brush and limbs picked up can place them at the curb with the cut ends facing the direction of travel. The following requirements have been established to ensure the safety and efficiency of this program. There will be no deviation from these requirements:
Limbs must be at least six (6’) feet in length and no more than six (6”) inches in diameter and should be placed in the same direction. (Leave limbs as long as possible)
Any smaller branches will be considered as brush and must be tied and bundled with natural fiber cord that is biodegradable (cotton, linen, or twine). Bundles tied with wire, plastic or nylon cord will not be picked up. All materials will be run through a chipper, so please ensure that there are no foreign objects, (i.e., metal, building materials, rocks, etc.), are included as these could cause damage to the equipment or injury to those operating the equipment.
Each bundle must not be heavier than 60 pounds and must be placed between the curb and sidewalk or at the edge of the roadway, not in the curb line or on the pavement. Placement of debris in the street is a traffic and safety hazard and is a violation of City Ordinance and will not be picked up by City personnel. Resident will be responsible for clean up and disposal. Do not park in front of piles. Piles that have blocked access or are obstructed by vehicles will not be picked up.
In the event that your brush and limbs have not been picked up prior to October 1st, please call to schedule a pickup, or email (public_works@fairfield-city.org). All calls and emails pertaining to storm damage must be received by October 6th and must report name, address and a telephone number. Calls received after October 6th will be handled as calls for the regular brush chipping schedule. As a reminder, October is the final month for the curb side brush chipping program.
“Operation Dump Truck” can be utilized for larger limbs, in addition to brush. This program provides residents a dumpster box or dump truck, to be loaded by the property owner and disposed of by the City. For more information on the “Operation Dump Truck” program, please call 867-4200.
If you have small quantities, you can place them out with your regular trash to be picked up by Rumpke at no charge.
In addition, brush and limbs up to four (4”) inches in diameter can be dropped off on the second Saturday of each month all year, at 4935 Groh Lane. Parks crews will be on hand from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on these Saturdays to mulch the debris without charge. Residents may take the mulch back with them if they desire, or allow the mulch to be used in the city parks. No leaves or grass clippings are accepted, and users of this service must present proof of Fairfield residence.
Any questions should be directed to the Public Works Department at 867-4200. CONTACT: Dain McCune Street Superintendent 8870 N. Gilmore Rd., Fairfield, Ohio 45014 (513) 867-4200
