About RASKALSRandom Acts of Simple Kindness Affecting Local Seniors (RASKALS) began in the fall of 1996 in West Chester when eleven-year-old Emily Weber sent a letter to the township administrator searching for a project that would help her community. That initial desire evolved into what has become a twice-a-year event: the first Saturday in May for spring cleanup and the first Saturday in November for fall cleanup. RASKALS volunteers have included families, youth organizations, government classes, church groups, older adults and just good neighbors. We always have room for volunteers. The RASKALS program has been fortunate to have many corporate and local business sponsors. Without these varied sponsorships, the project would not be as successful. We always have room for sponsors. The purpose of the RASKALS project is to help our older adults through random acts of kindness.
During the last RASKALS event, November 2007, 318 volunteers helped out 76 senior citizens here in the City of Fairfield. Last updated: 5/10/2008 |
