Criminal investigations

The Fairfield Police Department conducts various types of investigations. Most cases start with a police officer conducting a preliminary investigation when called to the scene of a crime. From there, it may be assigned in one of three ways:

The responding officer may continue the investigation until it reaches its conclusion. The officer will provide you with the case number, the officer's name and telephone number, and, in some cases, victim assistance information, if you are eligible.

The Investigations Unit conducts follow-up investigations of auto theft, burglary, theft, fraud, rape, assault, homicide, armed robbery and other crimes. The unit may be contacted directly at 513-867-6030, option 6. If you know the name of the investigator assigned to your case, you may contact the investigator directly at the telephone number provided.
