Welcome: Police: Safety

Tips for residents

Reduce your chances of becoming a burglary, larceny, robbery, rape or fraud victim with free crime prevention assistance from the Fairfield Police Department.

Your home

A Fairfield police officer can conduct individual security surveys of your home. To schedule an inspection, call the Community Relations Division at 513-896-8254.

The Police Department also recommends these tips to make your home a less likely target for burglary:

  1. Make your home look occupied.
  2. Make it difficult to break into by locking your outside doors before you leave the house or go to bed.
  3. Lock your windows.
  4. Leave your lights on when you go out for the night and utilize exterior lighting or motion sensitive lighting as a deterrent to burglary and vandalism.
  5. Keep your garage door closed and locked.
  6. Do not allow daily deliveries to accumulate; if you are gone have a neighbor pick up papers and mail.
  7. Arrange to have your lawn cut in the summer and walks cleared in the winter.

Your property

One way to reduce the chance of becoming a victim is to engrave your I.D. into your valuables. The Fairfield Police Department offers free use of an electric engraver. To learn more please contact Officer Dennis Valentini at 513-896-8292.

Your neighborhood

One of the best ways to prevent crime in residential neighborhoods is to organize a Neighborhood Crime Watch group. More than 3,000 Fairfield residents have joined since the program began in 1980. The goal of the program is to lessen the number of residential burglaries and thefts in Fairfield. To learn more or to start a group in your neighborhood contact Officer Dennis Valentini at 896-8292.

Your organizations

Fairfield Police Officers are available to make presentations to civic, service and professional groups. To learn more, contact the Community Relations Division at 513-896-8254.

More information

Free brochures are also available on request on a variety of topics including residential burglary, rape, thefts from vehicles, suspicious activity, fraud and robbery.

To learn more, call the Community Relations Division at 513-896-8254.
