Hydrant flushing may cause discolored water

The City of Fairfield's Water Division will be conducting its annual fire hydrant flushing program in phases. 

Residents may experience discolored water for a short period of time after each flushing.  Water should be clear after allowing services to flush for a period of five (5) to ten (10) minutes.

Phase 1

Main line flushing will be conducted between the hours of 9 p.m. Friday April 11, and 6 a.m.  Saturday April 12, 2008.  The affected areas will include areas east of Groh Lane and west of Pleasant Avenue from the City’s north corporation limit, south to Sherry Lane.

Phase 2

The second phase of main line flushing will be conducted between the hours of 9 p.m. on Friday April 18, 2008 and 6 a.m. Saturday April 19, 2008. The affected areas will include east of Pleasant Avenue to Route 4 and Hicks Boulevard, east of Pleasant Avenue to Fairfield Avenue and Nilles Road.  All of the Rolling Hills Subdivision will be affected, including Evalie, Red Oak and Tolleywood to Hunter Road.  In addition, the area east of Pleasant Avenue, west to Winton Road and south to Resor Road, as well as Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Lanes will be affected.

Other areas included are: the northern corporation boundary, south to Mack Road and east to Winton Road to South Gilmore Road.  Also, the area west of Winton Road from Hicks Boulevard to Resor Road.

Phase 3

The City of Fairfield's Water Division will be conducting the third phase of the annual fire hydrant flushing program.  Main line flushing will be conducted between the hours of 9:00 p.m. Friday April 25 and 6:00 a.m. Saturday April 26, 2008.  Residents may experience discolored water for a short period of time.  Water should be clear after allowing services to flush for a period of five (5) to ten (10) minutes.

Areas affected are from the northern corporation boundary, south to Mack Road and east to Winton Road to South Gilmore Road.  Other areas which may be affected are west of Winton Road from Hicks Boulevard to Resor Road.

Phase 4

The fourth phase of the annual fire hydrant main line flushing program will be conducted between the hours of 9:00 p.m. Friday May 2, 2008 and 6:00 a.m. Saturday May 3, 2008.  Residents may experience discolored water for a short period of time. 

Areas affected are from the north and south corporation boundaries, from Gilmore Road, east to the corporation boundaries.  Other areas affected will include Winton Hills Subdivision.

Phase 5

The fifth and final phase of the fire hydrant flushing program will be conducted between the hours of 9:00 p.m. Friday May 9, 2008 and 6:00 a.m. Saturday May 10, 2008.  Areas affected are from the north and south corporation boundaries, from Gilmore Road, east to the corporation boundaries.  Other areas affected will include Winton Hills Subdivision.
