Dwight is responsible for the Public Utilities Department, which provides public sewer and water service to businesses and households in the City of Fairfield. This includes the operation and maintenance of the treatment facilities, along with sewer collection and water distribution systems. Currently, this encompasses service for nearly 13,000 accounts and 175 miles each of sewer collection and water distribution lines. Background: Before joining the City of Fairfield, Dwight worked for Jones and Henry Engineers, Inc., a civil engineering firm based in Toledo, Ohio. Prior to that, he worked in the Oklahoma Water and Wastewater Utility Training Center at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He is a member of the Water Environment Federation, the American Water Works Association, the American Public Works Association, American Society for Public Administration and the International Public Management Association. Dwight holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the Ohio State University, an Associate of Science Degree in Environmental Quality Control form Muskingum Area Technical College, and a Master of Public Administration Degree from Northern Kentucky University. He is licensed as a Class III water Supply and Wastewater Treatment Operator through the state of Ohio. In 2000 and 2001, the City, as a member of the Hamilton to New Baltimore Groundwater Association, received the state and national most exemplary wellhead protection awards, and Dwight was the recipient of the 1995 Service Innovator Award for the local Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration. Personal interests/family: Dwight and his wife, Barb, have a daughter, Nova, a son, Adam, and four grandchildren. He serves on a local community outreach group for the Hoxworth Blood Center and is a 19-1/2 gallon blood donor. Previously, he held several club leadership positions in local clubs for Toastmasters International and served as president of the Emergency Medical Technician Department in New Concord, Ohio. He’s been a school board member and president of the school board at Immaculate Heart of Mary school in Burlington, Ky. Recently, he’s been involved in the RCIA program at Immaculate Heart of Mary.
