As Fairfield’s City Engineer, Ben’s duties include reviewing and managing Public Works projects, such as intersection improvements, roadway reconstruction, traffic signal upgrades and storm sewer improvements; providing technical assistance to City of Fairfield departments as needed; reviewing private development plans for compliance with City traffic, drainage, detention and infrastructure standards; managing the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System program and reporting to the Ohio EPA; responding to concerns from residents, and performing inspections on various City infrastructure. Background: After graduating from The Ohio State University with a degree in Civil Engineering, Ben worked in the Columbus area as a project manager and estimator for an underground utility contractor. While working with an engineering consulting firm in the Dayton area, he designed a variety of public and private improvement projects throughout Ohio and Michigan. His project design work was centered around transportation projects for city, county and state authorities, but included a wide range of other projects such as water line, sanitary sewer, drainage studies and site design. Ben is registered as an Ohio Professional Engineer and Michigan Professional Engineer and is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Ohio Society of Professional Engineers and American Society of Highway Engineers.
