Registration for Full Day Summer Fun and Adventure Camps  begins Tuesday, April 15th for residents and Thursday, April 17th for non-residents. 

Registration for all other Summer Camps begins Tuesday,  April 29th for residents and Thursday, May 1st for non-residents.

 

FULL DAY SUMMER CAMPS

These exciting all day camps are designed to be a unique and innovative approach to educational and recreational opportunities for youth during the summer months that will not only educate youth on a variety of positive socially appropriate leisure pursuits, but also provide a high level of supervision for fun summer activities. Our excellent staff includes certified school teachers and college students who participate in pre-employment background checks and a well-rounded leadership training program. Planned activities consist of arts and crafts, cooperative games, hiking, nature activities, sports, and swimming. Field trips are an integral part of the camp program, with a variety of trips to zoos, museums, skating rinks, Reds games and more. Camp is held, rain or shine, with rain-day activities planned. Each child receives a Summer Camp shirt to be worn on designated trips. Children should bring a sack lunch, drink, swim suit, towel and sunscreen daily. A light snack is supplied in the afternoon.

Please remember that this program often fills quickly. We do not reserve spots; you are only registered for the weeks that are paid. You may pay for up to 10 weeks at a time and receive an additional savings.

Dance Camp

AGES 7 and up

So you think you can dance? Well why not join us while we are Dancing with the Starz? Join the Fairfield City Starz Dance program as we present Fairfield's own Reality Dance Show. No previous dance experience is necessary. Dancers are divided into groups according to age. We begin our day with dance warm ups and continue with fun crafts, games and dance routines. Our camp ends with our final performance on Friday, June 13, at Noon or 7 pm (depending on which class you are in) in the Community Arts Center Theatre. Campers must bring a sack lunch/dinner daily, wear shorts or dancewear, and appropriate footwear. Each dancer receives a Dance Camp Tee Shirt.

Young Spartacus BootCamp

AGES 9 - 14

We work on strength, speed, agility (reaction and change of direction), and flexibility. For the first 20 minutes of each session the participants are broken into groups to work on strength. To finish, we combine both groups to work on speed and agility drills. The goal of the program is to improve your child’s performance and confidence. Classes are held outdoors. Wear proper attire.

Bird Watching Camp  

AGES 8 - 16

Let’s see how many birds you can identify. During this class you learn how to use binoculars and correctly identify birds. The three days of this class consist of a different field trip each day, including a trip to Miami Whitewater Forest, Houston Woods State Park and Fernald Nature Preserve. Each morning the class meets at Huffman Park. Please pack a snack and be prepared for outdoor activities.

Break-A-Leg Camp

AGE 8 - 12

This camp will meet for two weeks of half day fun exploring the creative and exciting world of theatre. Camp will cover the basics of theatre such as blocking, projection and character development. Campers will get to experience the entire production process from the auditions to the performance and get a basic knowledge of costume design, set design, directing and stage management. They will showcase their talent with a 20-30 minute age appropriate play, presented on our stage on the evening of June 27th.

Anime & Manga 2014 Drawing Workshop with Young Rembrandts Camp

AGES 6 - 12

Why sit in front of the TV and watch cartoons when you can draw amazing characters and awesome scenes of your very own? Students will be delighted as we create drawings that emulate the popular anime and manga art styles. Don’t miss out on an exciting opportunity to produce wonderful artwork.

Starz Spangled Cheer Workshop Camp

AGES 4 - 10

Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue!!!! Join us in this one-day cheer workshop where your little cheerleader will learn all the basics of cheerleading. A cheer mix dance is taught along with beginner stunting-as-a-group and tumbling skills. Sideline cheers and spirit jumps are included along with featured guests. This workshop is great for the little one who wants to cheer like the "big girls." Parents are invited at the close of the workshop to see the cheerleaders in action. Participants should dress in red, white or blue shorts and receive a tee shirt to wear at the demonstration. Gym shoes and socks should be worn. Students should pack a lunch and bring a water bottle.

Cake Decorating and More Camp

AGES 6 - 12

In this fun-filled three-day camp, students are taught how to decorate cupcakes with different icings and edible products. Decorated cupcakes go home the first two days. The last day, you will learn how to decorate a 2-tier cake with a 4th of July theme, so on Thursday you need to bring 2, 8 or 9 inch, round cakes.

Me and My Digital Camera Camp

AGES 10 - 15

Bring your own camera and develop your photography skills by learning and practicing the fundamentals of selection, composition, exposure and creative controls. This camp presents practical tips and techniques to improve your day-to-day photos or create memorable images of family and travel. Learn how to put the pictures on your computer, manipulate them, print them, send them to friends and family via email, and to set them as your desktop background. The class travels to different parks to capture different landscape views. Each day, participants are dropped off at different locations within Fairfield. A schedule is available the first day of class.

Pottery Camp I

Bricks 4 Kidz Mining and Crafting Camp

AGES 5 - 11

Do you have a Minecraft® fanatic in your house? Join Bricks 4 Kidz as we bring the fantasy world of the popular video game to life in our Mining and Crafting Camp. Campers complete models built entirely out of LEGO® bricks of Steve and different elements of his world including pigs, chickens, and the CREEPER! Campers also build motorized models related to the game and complete daily building challenges on the computer game itself. The possibilities are endless at Mining and Crafting camp and your young builder is sure to love every minute of it! “Minecraft” is a trademark of Notch Development AB and LEGO® is a registered trademark of the LEGO Group of Companies and they are not affiliated with Bricks 4 Kidz.

Children's Musical Theatre Camp

AGES 10 - 16

Be a part of this year’s Musical Theatre production, GTK....The Sound of Music. This camp includes intense training in singing, dancing, and character development. Shows will be Aug 1st – 3rd at the Fairfield Community Arts Center Theater. Audition packets must be picked up at time of enrollment and auditions will be held on July 12 from 10 am - Noon. Parents should plan to attend auditions with their child. Students MUST be enrolled to audition. Camp includes t-shirt, Kids in The Spotlight bag and/or production patch, and water bottle. Students must attend every class in order to participate in the final performance. Please do not register if you have a conflict. Email shirt size to aosborne@fairfield-city.org as soon as you register and no later than June 16th.

Outdoor Explorers Camp

AGES 8 - 16

Do you enjoy exploring the outdoors? This three-day class consists of a different field trip each day, including Miami Whitewater Forest, Houston Woods State Park and Indian Creek Preserve. Each morning the class meets at Huffman Park. After a brief overview of the day, the class heads out to start exploring the outdoors. Please pack a lunch and be prepared for outdoor activities. Your feet will get wet on one or more of the field trips so please plan accordingly and bring along a dry pair of shoes and socks.

Fairfield Greens Youth Golf Camp at North Trace

AGES 10 - 13

The Fairfield Greens Junior Golf Camp is open to boys and girls age 10-13 years old. Each day will include on-course instruction and golf lessons in all areas of the game: long game, short game, rules & etiquette, and course management. On the final day of camp, students will play 9 holes at North Trace. For more information and to register, please call the North Trace Pro Shop.

Caching and Cooking Camp

AGES 6 - 12

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS enabled devices. Participants will navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and attempt to find the geocache. After geocaching the participants will partake in an outdoor cooking demonstration where they will prepare their own lunch.

Mad Science Camp: It's Invisible!/Did You See That?!

Painting with Ease Camp

No experience needed, the instructor talks you through step-by-step to create your masterpieces. You create a different masterpiece each day by using different techniques. A sample of one of them is displayed in a case in the lobby.

iSpace Camp: LEGO Mindstorm NXT & RCX Robotics

AGES 9 - 12

Can a robot create art? Absolutely! Let your imagination soar as you unleash your artistic talent and program a LEGO® Mindstorm RCX robot to create a masterpiece! That’s just one of the exciting things you get to do with robots in this session. You also can explore the awesome world of robotics as you work in teams to build an NXT robot, program it with a computer to move, react using sensors, and make sounds in order to solve challenges and much more. Come see the amazing things that robots do for us every day and discover the robot programmer in you!

iSpace Camp: LEGO WeDo Robot Adventure

AGES 6 - 8

Get ready for a safari full of LEGO WeDo Robot FUN! Imagine the fun you'll have creating your own music with a drumming monkey, escaping the jaws of a chomping alligator or trying to calm a roaring lion! Build these and other LEGO models that come to "life" by programming them on a laptop to move and make sounds. Change up the scenery and write programmable stories of your safari adventures!
