As the City’s Building Official, Rick is responsible for the overall administration of the Building and Zoning Division and enforcement of all the rules of the State of Ohio, Board of Building Standards.

Background:

Rick has worked in the Building and Zoning Division for almost 30 years, starting as an electrical inspector. Before that, he owned and operated his own remodeling company.

Over the years, Rick has been involved in numerous building and electrical organizations, including:

• National Fire Protection Association
• Southwest Ohio International Association of Electrical Inspectors
• International Code Council, Inc.
• Greater Cincinnati Electrical Contractors Association
• Society of Fire Protection Engineers
• Southwestern Ohio Building Officials Association (Director through Past President)
• Ohio Building Officials Association (Director through Past President)
• Ohio Board of Building Standards (Education and Fire Ad hoc)

Rick was named Building Official of the Year by both the Southwestern Ohio Building Officials Association and the Ohio Building Officials Association.

Rick serves on the Board of Zoning Appeals, Board of Building Appeals and Design Review Board.

Personal interests/family:

Rick enjoys spending time with his family, which includes wife Millie, son Ricky, daughters Renee and Jeannie, 13 grandchildren and three dogs.

At the top of Rick’s list of favorite activities are taking trips on his Goldwing and playing classical guitar.
