With approved plans and a selected contractor, the development of Huffman Park is scheduled to begin this winter and last roughly 9 months. Complete Details
First Highland Management & Development Company, owners of Fisher Park (formerly known as the G.M. Fisher Body Plant), recently started environmental remediation and demolition of the out buildings on the north side of the property. The out buildings include the bailer house, the boiler house, and the water tower. These structures have not been used since the G.M. plant closed, and they have been vacant and deteriorating for nearly 25 years. They contain asbestos and other minor environmental contaminants that are being remediated. The City of Fairfield is assisting the project with a $220,000 federal grant for removal of slum and blight. After demolition is complete, 20 acres of vacant industrial land will be marketed for new development.

Most of the work along Bypass 4 has been completed, with the Ohio Department of Transportation's (ODOT) Superstreet concept now in use. Work continues on the railroad bridge and at the intersection with Route 4. Complete details are available here.
