Ray Webber

Ray is assigned to the position of District Captain / Unit 2. He supervises crews at emergency scenes, coordinates daily activities at the fire station and fills in for one of the three career captains as District 33. He was hired as a part time Firefighter / EMT in September of 1990. Since his appointment he has served in the capacity of a district fire lieutenant and assistant training coordinator.

Background
Born and raised in Northwestern Pennsylvania, Ray moved to the area in 1987 to attend University of Cincinnati. He received his bachelor's degree in Fire and Industrial Safety Technology and later obtained a masters degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. As a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program, he received the Outstanding Applied Research Award in 2005.

Ray was involved in the fire service from a very early age, serving alongside his father on the West Salem Volunteer Fire Department. "I remember being a kid and going with my dad on fire-runs", says Ray. "Dad has a hearing impairment and my job was to tell him what the fire radio was saying…and operate the siren of course."

Ray has been with the Procter & Gamble Company since 1998 and manages health, safety, environmental and fire protection for P&G's North American distribution centers. Prior to this assignment, he was the Site Fire Chief for P&G's Winton Hill Business Center. Ray says "The roles compliment each other nicely. My experience with P&G has shown me how the Fairfield Fire Department can better serve local business and industry." He sits on the advisory board for the University of Cincinnati Fire Science Program and is an "alternate member" on National Fire Protection Association's Loss Prevention Technical Committee.

Personal Interests
Ray is an active member of the Cincinnati Rowing Club. He enjoys all too infrequent rows on the Licking River and has competed at regional regattas. He has been a downtown resident since 2007 and likes the hustle and bustle of downtown living. Ray enjoys taking pictures but refuses to call himself a "photographer".
