Mike is a Training Lieutenant with Unit 2. He oversees daily operations of the crew at Station 31, responds to fire and EMS incidents on front-line apparatus, and fills in for one of the three career captains at District 33. His administrative duties include being assigned to the department's Training Division, where he is responsible for fire training for all Unit 1 personnel. Mike is also responsible for the department's hydrant inspection and pre-incident planning programs.

Background
Mike's fire career with the City of Fairfield began in October 2000 when he was hired as a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. He was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in February 2015.

A 1992 graduate of Maple Heights High School in Cleveland, Mike obtained his Associate's Degree in Fire Protection Technology from the University of Akron and graduated with distinction in 1994. He also graduated from the Akron General Medical Center's Paramedic Education Program in 1997, finishing third in his class. He attended the Fire Academy at Cuyahoga Community College in 1998, also finishing third in his class. He has taken multiple classes through the Ohio Fire Academy and Bowling Green State University. Mike is currently enrolled in the 2.5-year Ohio Fire Executive (OFE) Program put on by the Ohio Fire Chief's Association.

Prior to his full-time position with Fairfield, Mike was a part-time firefighter/paramedic with the City of Fairlawn in Akron, Ohio, from 1995 until 2000. He was hired as a full-time firefighter/paramedic with neighboring Bath Township Fire Department in 1999.

Mike serves as a member of the Butler County Technical Rescue team and Fire Department Honor Guard. Mike has also been certified as Fire Inspector, Basic Fire Investigation, HAZMAT Technician, Rope Rescue Technician, Trench Collapse Technician, Structure Collapse Operations, Confined Space Technician, Swift Water Rescue Operations, Ice Rescue Technician, and WMD Chemical/Biological/Nuclear/Radiological Technician. He has completed various company officer leadership classes including Fire Officer 1.

Personal Interests/Family
A resident of Hamilton, Mike has five children - identical triplet daughters Emily, Allie and Hannah, daughter Natalie and son Benjamin. Mike enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking.
