Greg Preece was appointed Assistant City Manager in August of 2015. Prior to joining Fairfield, Greg spent over 14-years with the City of Blue Ash, Ohio in various roles within the fire department (Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Fire Chief) and within Administration as the City’s Human Resources Director. Greg began his local government service as a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic with Union Township in Clermont County.
Education & Leadership
Greg holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Labor Relations and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA). Greg remains an active alumnus of Northern Kentucky University’s MPA Program and serves as an adjunct instructor within the program. Additionally, Greg attended the University of Virginia LEAD program at the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, holds SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) status, and maintains his certifications as an Ohio Firefighter II, Paramedic and Fire Safety Inspector.
Greg is a member of several professional associations including the National Public Employers Labor Relations Association (NPELRA), Ohio Public Employers Labor Relations Association (OHPELRA), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR), and the Ohio City/County Management Association (OCMA). In addition, Greg is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) where he serves as a member of the Government Affairs and Policy Committee.
When time permits, Greg enjoys reading, traveling, snow skiing and watching/attending sporting events.
