The Fairfield Historical Society presents Pulitzer Prize nominated author Lester V. Horwitz who will discuss his best-selling book, The Longest Raid of the Civil War. The culmination of fifteen years of research and five years of writing, the book chronicles the untold stories of Civil War General John Hunt Morgan who invaded parts of Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio with a Confederate force in July 1863. The author will speak on Tuesday, July 24, at 7:00 pm at the Fairfield Community Arts Center followed by a question-and-answer session and book signing.
Admission is free.

Lester V. Horwitz is an author, historian, lecturer, playwright, lyricist, and screenwriter. He was the founder and CEO of a national advertising agency for 45 years. Horwitz’s interest in Morgan’s Raid began after he and his wife Florence purchased their circa 1840 home in Loveland in 1979 and discovered that it had been visited by Morgan’s troops. When first published in 1999, The Longest Raid became the #1 best-seller in the Tri-State area and shortly thereafter was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for History. Horwitz is a native of Cincinnati and attend the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University.
