Throughout the year, the Parks and Recreation Department organizes a variety of community events and activities.
To ensure that adequate blood supplies are readily on hand for any emergency, the Community Blood Center, the Fairfield Fire Department and the Parks and Recreation Department sponsor periodic community blood drives at the Fire Headquarters (375 Nilles Road) and the Community Arts Center (411 Wessel Drive).
The Fairfield Lane Public Library, in conjunction with Fairfield Parks & Recreation, offer a series of programs and activities for families all summer.
Fine Art Fair
Artists from all over the region migrate to Fairfield to offer their finest work to you. Participating artists will be set up throughout Village Green Park and inside the Community Arts Center displaying and selling their work. Live music, food, and family activities round out this annual event.
Groovin on the Green
Bring your blanket or lawn chairs every Thursday evening and enjoy the concerts at Village Green Park. Every musical taste will be satisfied in this summer-long series (between Memorial Day and Labor Day) at the park's amphitheater.
The Community Room and Balcony at the Community Arts Center will be open with food and a cash bar during all of the Thursday night Groovin' on the Green Concerts. Click here for a complete schedule and details.
Light Up Fairfield
Welcome the holiday season in with Light Up Fairfield (formerly "Holly Days") at Village Green Park, the Community Arts Center, the Fairfield Lane Library, the Waterford, and beyond. Families will enjoy visits with Santa, kids' crafts, wagon rides, the unveiling of the Festival of Trees, and much more! Be there to help Santa light the big tree and all of Village Green.
Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
The Annual Memorial Day Parade features veterans groups, military units, the Fairfield High School Marching Band, community groups and organizations, the Fairfield Police Department, and Fairfield Fire and EMS units. The parade concludes with a brief ceremony to pay tribute to our veterans, both past and present at Veterans Memorial Park.
Movies in the Park
A different movie will be featured throughout the summer on select Fridays in May through October. In addition to the movies, the Fairfield Fire Department will also have pre-show fun for the entire family.
Red, White and Kaboom
Fairfield’s annual Independence Day celebration on July 3 includes festivities at Harbin Park, the launch site for Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks, Village Green Park, and the Fairfield Aquatic Center.
Swingin' on the Green
This monthly concert series, Swingin' on the Green, focuses on the sounds of Jazz and Swing and will feature area bands. The series runs on the third Monday of June, July, and August at the Village Green Amphitheater.
Touch a Truck
Kids young and old can touch, explore, and climb on the many vehicles that will be on display the second Friday of August. Examples of the vehicles that will be there are fire trucks, constructions trucks, snowplow, police car, and many more trucks of all shapes and sizes.
Village Green Car Show
A day of music, cars, motorcycles, and food on the Green. Classic and antique cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more will be on display around the Village Green campus. Live music is featured on the Amphitheater stage and food is available for purchase in the Park.
Village Green Farmers Market
