Throughout the year, the Parks and Recreation Department organizes a variety of festivals and community events.
Blood Drives
To ensure that adequate blood supplies are readily on hand for any emergency, the Community Blood Center, the City of Fairfield, and the Parks and Recreation Department sponsor periodic community blood drives at the Fairfield Community Arts Center.
Concerts on the Balcony
The Community Room and Balcony at the Community Arts Center will be open with food and a cash bar during a select number of Groovin' on the Green Concerts. Information for 2010 will available soon.
Cruise In on the Green
Over 170 classic cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles took over Village Green for the 2nd Annual Cruise In on the Green on September 19th. Proceeds from this event were donated to the Lisa Brown Scholarship Fund. Headliner Hot Wax and opening act Finger English performed for all of those in attendance. Check back later this spring for details of the 2010 event.
Fairfield Idol
The 2009 edition of Fairfield Idol is in the books after two months of singing a new Fairfield Idol has been named. Ethan Unklesbay paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson and then back-flipped his way into the hearts of those in the audience. Audition dates for the 2010 contest will be posted soon.
Fairfield Lane Library Events on the Green
The Fairfield Lane Public Library, in conjunction with Fairfield Parks & Recreation, offer a series of programs and acitivities for families all summer. Planning is currently underway for the 2010 series.
Groovin on the Green
Bring your blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy the concerts at Village Green Park. Every musical taste will be satisfied in this summer-long series (between Memorial Day and Labor Day) at the park's amphitheater.
Holly DaysWelcome the holiday season in with "
Holly Days" at Village Green Park and the Community Arts Center. Families will enjoy visits with Santa, balloon sculptures, kids' crafts, wagon rides, the unveiling of the Festival of Trees, story time from our friends at the Fairfield Lane Library, and much more! Be there to help Santa light the big tree and all of Village Green.
Movies in the Park
A different movie will be featured throughout the summer on the first Friday of the month from May through October. In addition to the movies, the Fairfield Fire Department will also have pre-show fun for the entire family.
Pumpkin Patch in the Park
Kids of all ages will enjoy this fall festival at Harbin Park (1300 Hunter Road), the fall fun includes a hay ride to select to the pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, face painting, kids' crafts, games, and much more!
Red, White and Kaboom
Fairfield’s annual Independence Day celebration on July 3 includes festivities at Harbin Park, the launch site for Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks, Village Green Park, and the Fairfield Aquatic Center. Tune into ClassX Radio 88.9 FM for the live broadcast and simulcast of the fireworks soundtrack.
Swingin' on the Green
This monthly concert series, Swingin' on the Green, focuses on the sounds of Jazz and Swing and will feature area bands, some of which have previously performed in the Groovin’ on the Green Series. The series runs on the third Monday of June, July, and August at the Village Green Amphitheater.
Village Green Fine Art Fair
Over 50 artists gathered for the 2009 Village Green Fine Arts Fair on June 20th. Artists and patrons enjoyed a warm summer day with special performances from the Miami Valley Ballet, Cincinnati Gymnastics, Sunflower Tones, and Gregory Albright.
