Throughout the year, the Parks and Recreation Department organizes a variety of festivals and community events.
Blood Drives
To ensure that adequate blood supplies are readily on hand for any emergency, the Community Blood Center, the City of Fairfield, and the Parks and Recreation Department sponsor periodic community blood drives at the Fairfield Community Arts Center. The next blood drive is scheduled for Thursday, June 18th.
Concerts on the Balcony
The Community Room and Balcony at the Community Arts Center will be open with food and a cash bar during a select number of Groovin' on the Green Concerts. Click here for a full schedule, menu items, and the view you'll enjoy.
Cruise In on the Green
Enjoy a Classic Car Cruise In on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 5 pm. There will be music from Hot Wax and Finger English, food and a vast collection or classic cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles parked and displayed around Village Green Park.
Fairfield Idol
The final four is set, see who made it by clicking on the header above. The Semi Final Round will take place on Monday, June 22nd at 7 pm in Village Green Park, where the two finalists will be determined. The 2009 contest wraps up with the finals at Red, White & Kaboom on Friday, July 3rd at Village Green Park.
Fairfield Lane Library Events on the Green
The Fairfield Lane Public Library, in conjunction with Fairfield Parks & Recreation, offer a series of programs and acitivities for families all summer
Groovin on the Green
The Summer Concert Series features local and regional bands in the beautiful Village Green Park. The 2009 edition will run through Thursday, September 3, 2009.
Movies in the Park
A different movie will be featured throughout the summer on the first Friday of the month (except July) through October 2nd. In addition to the movies listed below, the Fairfield Fire Department will also have pre-show fun for the entire family.
Red, White and Kaboom
Join in the family fun for Fairfield’s annual Independence Day celebration July 3. Festivities will take place at Harbin Park, the launch site for Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks, Village Green Park, and the Fairfield Aquatic Center. Tune into ClassX Radio 88.9 FM for the live broadcast and simulcast of the fireworks soundtrack.
Swingin' on the Green
The new monthly concert series, Swingin' on the Green, focuses on the sounds of Jazz and Swing and will feature area bands, some of which have previously performed in the Groovin’ on the Green Series. The series runs on the third Monday of June, July, and August at the Village Green Amphitheater.
Village Green Fine Art Fair
The Annual Village Green Fine Art Fair on Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. A listing of participating artists is available along with a schedule of events.
