The City of Fairfield is announcing that a written Civil Service exam, to be used as the initial step to establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer, will be conducted at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in the cafeteria at the Fairfield Senior High School, located at 8800 Holden Blvd.

Our Police Officers are responsible for maintaining law and order, investigating crimes and protecting life and property throughout the City by enforcing the laws and ordinances of the City of Fairfield and the State of Ohio.  It is a rewarding career in a progressive Police Department.

Scope of the written test will be multiple-choice questions to identify candidates with an aptitude for police work.  A passing score of 70% is necessary to be scheduled for succeeding steps in the hiring process.  The process continues with a physical agility test, structured oral interview, background investigation, polygraph (CVSA), medical (including drug screen), and psychological evaluation.

Qualifications include: U.S. Citizen; high school diploma/GED (Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and/or State of Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Certificate preferred); valid Driver’s license; minimum age 21 at the time of the exam and not eligible for original appointment to Fairfield Police Department on or after 35th birthday.

Pay Range:

Salary:  Starting base pay with OPOTA certification is $26.82/hour; increasing to $29.37/hour after one year of service. Annual base pay increases to $31.82/hour for 2 years; $34.51/hour for 3 years; then to $35.20/hour after 5 years.

A state certified officer who has completed his/her probationary period on another police department, may be hired at a pay service step commensurate with his/her skills, knowledge, abilities and years of equivalent service.

Public Utilities Director

The City of Fairfield, Ohio seeks a Director to lead its Public Utilities Department, comprised of a Water Division and a Wastewater Division.  The Water Division is responsible for an OEPA Class III Water Plant producing an average of 5 mgd from wells, 172 miles of water mains, three pumping stations, and 7 million gallons of storage capacity.  The Wastewater Division is responsible for an OEPA Class IV Treatment Plant with a treatment capacity of 10 mgd, 166 miles of sanitary sewers, a 25 mgd wet weather pumping station, and numerous lift stations.

Fairfield is a full-service city, located just north of Cincinnati.  It has a vibrant economic base, exceptional quality of life and encompasses 22 square miles, with a population of approximately 43,000.  

     

The Director is appointed by and reports directly to the City Manager and is responsible for a total annual budget of $11.7 million which includes 41 full-time employees. The five-year capital improvement plan is $23 million. Fairfield enjoys one of the lowest combined water/sewer rates in southwest Ohio.

Qualifications include Bachelor of Arts/Science; Master’s degree preferred.  Significant experience in an organization of comparable size and complexity with a combination of relevant licensure may be substituted as appropriate.  A demonstrated history of leadership, communication, organizational, analytical and managerial skills is essential. Position offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package.

Includes set up and maintenance of beverages stations • Operate cash register for all concession sales • May include some simple food preparation and cleaning.

 

Hours: Primarily Weekend evenings, Saturday and Sunday days. Some weekday evenings as needed.

Must be age 21 or older at time of hire. Experienced working face-to-face with customers in fast-paced situations. Food service and/or banquet industry a plus.
