Assistant City Manager - Dennis R. Stuckey
As Assistant City Manager, Dennis R. Stuckey serves as Acting City Manager in the absence of the City Manager. In addition to handling special projects as needed, he supervises the Human Resources Manager and the Customer Service Manager. A key area of his responsibility is labor relations, in which role he takes the lead in negotiating with the City’s five employee bargaining units. He serves as a management representative on the Employee/Management Health and Dental Benefits Plan Committee. He also coordinates various communication vehicles for the City, including the residential newsletter The Fairfield Flyer, the popular annual report document, and the video production of City Council meetings. Background: Mr. Stuckey has worked in local government management since 1972, serving in three different states. Prior to joining Fairfield, he served as City Manager of Oxford, Ohio, from 1983 to 1992, and as City Manager of Titusville, Pennsylvania from 1975 to 1983. From 1972 to 1975, he served as Assistant to the City Manager and Assistant City Manager of Portage, Michigan. Dennis is a native of Columbus, Indiana. He received his undergraduate degree from DePauw University with a major in Political Science and a Masters of Public Policy (MPP) from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the International City-County Management Association (ICMA), Ohio City-County Management Association (OCMA) and Rotary International. In addition, Dennis has served as Fairfield Rotary Club’s treasurer since 2001 and serves on the Mercy Hospital Fairfield Community Advisory Board and on the Parish Council and Finance Commission of St. Mary Church, Oxford, Ohio. He is a member of Oxford Lodge No. 67, F. & A. M. Ohio and Titusville Council No. 492, K .of C. Pennsylvania. Personal interests/family: Dennis’ wife, Janet, is the Head of Special Collections and Archives at the Walter Havighurst Special Collections Library, Miami University. Their daughter Pam and son-in-law Jack are both high school band instructors living in West Lafayette, Indiana. Away from work, Dennis enjoys projects where he can see a finished product quickly, which is one of the reasons, he says, that he enjoys cooking (and eating)! |
