Fairfield City Manager Honored

Art Pizzano, City Manager of Fairfield, recently received the Ohio City/County Management Association’s 2013 Career Achievement Award.  The honor, presented to him at the Association’s annual conference in Columbus, recognizes Mr. Pizzano’s significant contributions to the City Management profession.  His 40 years of service to local government has included communities in New Jersey, Colorado and Iowa, in addition to serving the City of Fairfield, where he is completing his 15th year this month.

CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE STAFF

The office of the City Manager includes the general administrative staff, as well as the Human Resources Office. The City Manager's Office is located at 5350 Pleasant Avenue, Fairfield, OH 45014 and can be reached directly by calling the Municipal Building at (513) 867-5350.

The City Manager is appointed by City Council and serves as the Chief Executive Officer and head of the administrative branch of the City.  The Manager is responsible for the proper administration of all the affairs of the City, the supervision of all City departments, preparation of the annual operating budget and oversight of financial condition, and the enforcement of all laws and Ordinances within the City. He is also responsible for the appointment and removal of all city personnel, serves as the contracting agent for the city government and assists City Council through the proposal of policy measures and initiatives for its consideration.

The Assistant City Manager serves as an extension of the City Manager's functions and also provides human resources, employee union contract negotiations and public relations functions for the City.

The Human Resources Office coordinates the staffing process, from recruiting to orientation; encourages employee training and development; administers compensation and benefit programs, and monitors employee performance evaluations.

The Administrative Assistant provides clerical support to the administrative/City Manager's office, provides general information about the City and its facilities and services, handles complaint resolution and other specialty services for the office, senior staff, city council and the citizens of Fairfield.
