Mark Wendling has served as Fairfield’s City Manager since May of 2015 after previously serving as the City’s Assistant City Manager.
Prior to Fairfield he served as City Manager of Silverton, Ohio; City Administrator of Independence, Kentucky; and Assistant Township Administrator of Delhi Township, Ohio. He began his public service career as Delhi’s Personnel Officer. His experience serving several different forms of local government has provided him with a broad experience and perspective on the many common issues communities regularly face.
Mark is a double graduate of Northern Kentucky University, where he earned Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees. He subsequently served his alma mater as an Adjunct Professor in the Public Administration program.
Additionally, Mark is a graduate of the Rocky Mountain Leadership Program. He holds ICMA Credentialed Manager status and serves on several boards, including the Citizens Advisory Council at the Hamilton campus of Miami University and the Butler County United Way Campaign Cabinet. He has served as president of the Center for Local Government and as conference coordinator for the Ohio Public Employer Labor Relations Association. He is the proud recipient of the Ohio City/County Management Association’s 2017 Innovation in Local Government Award.
Mark regards public service as both an honor and a privilege. He and his family reside in Fairfield.
