UTILITY RATES

Water & Sewer Charges - Effective February 1, 2012

Water and sewer charges are based on the amount of water used each month, measured by a meter on the residence or business.

Rates are based on a combination of minimum charges (which are assessed according to meter size), plus charges for additional water and sewer used beyond the minimum.

Most residential accounts are serviced by a 3/4" meter, which corresponds to the the minimum monthly usage of 3,000 gallons per month.

Minimum monthly water and sewer charges according to meter size:

Water usage beyond the minimum is charged at $2.70 per thousand gallons.

Sewer usage beyond the minimum is charged at $4.35 per thousand gallons.
 

BILLING EXAMPLE

Assume that a residential customer uses 6,500 gallons per month. The sewer and water charges would be determined as follows:

Water

• Subtract the minimum monthly use from the total usage:
  6,500 gallons - 3,000 gallons = 3,500 gallons


• The first 3,000 gallons are charged at the minimum charge rate of $8.91. 
  The usage beyond the minimum (3,500 gallons) is charged at $2.70 per thousand gallons:
  First 3,000 gallons = $8.91
  Remaining 3,500 gallons/1,000 = 3.5 * $2.70 = $9.45


• Water total:
  $8.91 + $9.45 = $18.36

Sewer

• Subtract the minimum monthly use from the total usage:
  6,500 gallons - 3,000 gallons = 3,500 gallons


• The first 3,000 gallons are charged at the minimum charge rate of $13.05. 
  The usage beyond the minimum (3,500 gallons) is charged at $4.35 per thousand gallons:
  First 3,000 gallons = $13.05
  Remaining 3,500 gallons/1,000 = 3.5 * $4.35 = $15.23


• Sewer total:
  $13.05 + $15.23 = $28.28

Total water and sewer bill for the month:

Sewer = $28.28
Water = $18.36
Total = $46.64

Trash Charges

The current trash cost is $11.45 per month for curbside service and $6.50 per month for dumpster service.  The appropriate trash charge will be added to the monthly water and sewer bill.
