Automatic Summer Sewer Credit

The Automatic Summer Sewer Credit gives residential utility customers consideration on water that is used for "outside" purposes and not returned back to the sanitary sewer system. This includes water for lawn watering, irrigation, and swimming pools.

This credit is in effect for the months of May, June, July, August and September, and is calculated automatically based on a winter average consumption.

In essence, water usage over 150 percent of an average winter month is not charged for sewer usage. The winter average is based on typical monthly uses during November, December, January and February.

To illustrate how this works, assume a customer uses the following volumes: 6,000; 7,500; 8,000; and 6,800; during November, December, January and February, respectively.

This would work out to an average of 7,075 gallons during each of the four winter months. During summer, this customer would not be charged for sewer for any usage above 10,613 gallons (or a volume 1.5 times the winter average).
