Parks and Recreation Department
Ben plans and oversees the Community Events offered through the Parks & Recreation Department. Ben is responsible for organizing and attracting sponsors for the weekly Groovin' on the Green summer concert series, Fairfield’s Red, White & Kaboom Independence Day celebration, the Easter Egg Hunt, the Pumpkin Patch, and all other special events offered through the Department. He manages all aspects of these events, such as booking bands, scheduling vendors, coordinating staff, and securing support through business partners. Ben is also responsible for managing the City’s Volunteer Program, which supports daily operations for Parks & Recreation and other City Departments as well as many of the Community Events. In addition, Ben serves on the Cultural Arts Advisory Commission as staff liaison.
Ben began working with the City of Fairfield in 2002. Previously, while at Miami University, he worked at the Goggin Ice Arena as an Intramural Sports Intern. He also interned with Don Schumacher and Associates in Cincinnati, Ohio in the Prep Sports Division, working directly on the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown.
Ben is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) through the National Parks & Recreation Association and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Indiana University Executive Development Program. He is also a member of the National Parks and Recreation Association and Ohio Parks and Recreation Association. Ben has completed Leadership Fairfield (Class V) and the Indiana University Executive Development Program for Parks and Recreation Professionals.
Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and the many activities in which they are involved.
