Cultural Arts Advisory Commission

The Cultural Arts Advisory Commission is an arts and culture advisory group to the Parks and Recreation Board on cultural arts activities within the City of Fairfield.

The CAAC meets on the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and are held in Community Room-B of the Fairfield Community Arts Center, 411 Wessel Drive.

The CAAC consists of nine members appointed by City Council for three-year terms.

The Fairfield Community Arts Center Manager and the Parks and Recreation Events Manager attend all meetings of the CAAC and may take part in all discussions of the Commission, but do not have the right to vote on any matter before the Commission.

Duties and Functions

The Fairfield Cultural Arts Advisory Commission shall serve as an advisory group to the Fairfield Parks and Recreation Board dedicated to the promotion of cultural arts activities within the City of Fairfield and specifically to:

    1. Assist the Parks and Recreation Board in the education of the public about the importance of the arts to the community.
    2. Assist the Parks and Recreation Board in informing the public of arts activities available to the community.
    3. Assist the Parks and Recreation Board in enlisting the support of civic groups and businesses who can contribute time and/or money to the Arts in Fairfield. Assist the Parks and Recreation Board in the solicitation of available grants for arts programming.
    4. Assist the Parks and Recreation Board in the programming of its cultural arts facilities and exploring cultural arts opportunities for the City of Fairfield.
    5. Serve as a liaison with other cultural arts groups to expand the cultural arts opportunities for the City of Fairfield.
