It is estimated that thousands of youths abuse or sell medications that they obtain from the family medicine cabinet. Also, people often dispose of unwanted medications in an unsecured or improper manner. The Fairfield Police Department offers residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of unused medications.
A permanent drop box has been placed in the lobby of the Fairfield Police Department, and the box is available 24 hours a day. Residents may simply bring their unwanted medications to the police department lobby, follow the instructions located on the drop box, and discard their medications. While most prescription and over-the-counter medications may be discarded in the drop box, residents should not use this service for the following:
