"AT YOUR SERVICE" CALL-IN BRUSH AND LIMB PICKUP PROGRAM
The City of Fairfield is pleased to announce that beginning Monday, April 4, 2011, the Public Works Department will again provide a Call-in Brush and Limb Pickup Program to its residents. Residents wishing to have brush and limbs picked up can arrange to do so by contacting the Public Works Department at 867-4200 at least one week in advance of the scheduled pickup areas. Normal business hours for the Public Works Department are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The three pickup areas will be the same as those used for the City's leaf pickup program; however, pickups will be scheduled (starting the first Monday of each month) as follows:
No pickups will be scheduled the last week of each month to allow for machinery repair and scheduling for the following month.
Brush Pick Request Form
All calls must include name, address and a telephone number. It may be necessary to limit the number of scheduled pickups in a specific week, so call as far as in advance as possible. Normal business hours for the Public Works Department are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The program is limited to one pickup per household during each area pickup week.

The first full week of each month — areas west of Pleasant Avenue (U.S. 127)
The second week of each month — areas between Pleasant Avenue and Winton Road
The third week of each month — areas east of Winton Road
No pickups will be scheduled the last week of each month to allow for machinery repair and scheduling for the following month.
The following requirements have been established to ensure the safety and efficiency of this program. There will be no deviation from these requirements:
Limbs must be at least six feet in length and no more than six inches in diameter, and they should be placed in the same direction. Any limbs larger than 6 inches in diameter will not be picked up. (Leave limbs as long as possible). For limbs larger than six inches in diameter, consider Operation Dump Truck.
Any smaller branches will be considered as brush and must be tied and bundled with natural fiber cord that is biodegradable (cotton, linen or twine). Bundles tied with wire, plastic or nylon cord will not be picked up . All materials will be run through a chipper, so please ensure no rocks, metal or other foreign objects are included, as these could cause damage to the equipment or injury to those operating it.
Each bundle must not be heavier than 60 pounds and must be placed between the curb and sidewalk or at the edge of the roadway, not in the curb line or on the pavement. Placement of debris in the street is a traffic and safety hazard, is a violation of the City Ordinance and will not be picked up by city personnel. Residents will be responsible for cleanup and disposal. Do not park in front of piles. Piles that have blocked access or are obstructed by vehicles will not be picked up.
Both the Brush and Limb Pickup Program and Operation Dump Truck are intended to provide residents an option for normal trimmings and storm damage disposal. Residents contracting with professional tree trimming and removal services should include disposal in their contract since the city is unable to accommodate major disposal needs.
In addition, brush and limbs up to four inches in diameter can be dropped off on the second Saturday of each month at 4935 Groh Lane.
Parks Department crews will be on hand from 8 a.m. until 12 noon on these Saturdays to mulch the debris without charge. Residents may take the mulch back with them if they desire, or allow the mulch to be used in the city parks. No leaves or grass clippings are accepted, and users of this service must present proof of Fairfield residence.
