Snow and ice must be removed from sidewalks adjacent to your property by 10 a.m. each day.
If it is impossible to remove all the snow and ice, cover the snow and ice with ashes, sand or other substances to provide safe travel. Some property owners find it helpful to keep a bag of kitty litter on hand to use for this purpose.
The city urges all residents and property owners in the city to adhere to these guidelines when winter snow or ice can make sidewalk travel treacherous.
By a cooperative effort, school children and others who rely on the sidewalks to reach various destinations in the city will be able to use the sidewalks and avoid the additional dangers of walking in the street during adverse weather conditions.
