The Street Division provides for the care, repair and maintenance, snow removal, annual street asphalt overlay, roadside mowing and street sweeping of all public streets; drainage facilities; street landscaping; operation dump truck; and limb brush pickup.
It is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of all traffic signals and signs.

The Public Works Department provides repair services for curb and gutter, potholes and sunken roadway areas. When possible, temporary repairs will be made, followed by permanent repairs as soon as possible.
If you experience an obstruction due to low overhanging tree branches that prevents you from having clear visibility at intersections or along city streets, you may contact the Construction Services Division of the Public Works Department.
During winter weather events, each of the city's snow removal zones is assigned a truck with a plow and salt spreader. Additional trucks may be assigned as appropriate.
The Street Division monitors the street sweeping contract. The contractor sweeps arterial and collector streets twice per month, the downtown area one time per week and residential streets five times per year.

Speed Advisory Radar Trailers
Fairfield has four speed advisory radar trailers. Highly popular devices for slowing traffic, these trailers display the posted speed limit and the actual speed of oncoming vehicles.
Fairfield currently has 55 operating traffic signals. All but seven of these are on a computerized system that can be monitored and changed as needed from the Public Works facility.
