Koch Foods, which operates a chicken processing plant on Port Union Road in Fairfield, recently announced the installation of production line 7 that will add capacity and a high number of jobs. Koch anticipates adding 150 employees for all 3 shifts. Since 2012, Koch Foods has invested more than $50 million in building expansion and new equipment including the addition of several production lines, which has resulted in strong employment growth, now approaching 1,200 total employees.
The City assisted the project with a 75%, 10-year property tax abatement on the future assessed valuation of the new addition and a rebate of a portion of the company’s sanitary sewer administration fees. The State of Ohio also assisted the project with a job creation tax credit.

Koch Foods was founded in 1985. Today, it is one of the largest integrated poultry processors in the country, with more than 20 plants located across the United States. The company is currently one of the top 10 employers in Fairfield. When the hiring is complete, it will move into the top 5 largest. It is also the City’s largest water user by a significant margin.
