Major Greg Valandingham began his career with the Fairfield Police Department in 1992 as a patrol officer. Moving up through the ranks over the past 26 years, Major Valandingham has held the positions of detective, investigations sergeant, administrative sergeant, and patrol sergeant. He was promoted to his current position from patrol sergeant in 2018.
A 1992 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration, Major Valandingham also earned a Master's of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Tiffin University in August 2015.
He is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command (June 2018); the Police Executive Leadership College, Ohio Law Enforcement Foundation (May 2003); and Leadership Fairfield through the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.
Major Valandingham received peace officer certification through the Ohio Peace Officer's Training Academy (OPOTA) and the Butler County Peace Officer Academy. He is a former instructor in the areas of firearms, defensive tactics, ASP baton, and OC spray. He has also taught in the Butler County Peace Officer Academy.
