Major Rebecca Ervin leads the Support Services Division of the Fairfield Police Department which consists of the 911 call center (dispatch), records, property, the animal control officer, community relations, and the school resource officers. A 23-year veteran of the Department, she was promoted to Major in 2022 after holding various roles since 2002. 

Throughout her career with Fairfield PD, she has served in several roles. Major Ervin has been a detective, field training officer, bike patrol officer, and a member and supervisor of the evidence technicians. In 2018, she was promoted to sergeant where she supervised first and third shift patrol. In 2020, she was moved to the administrative sergeant position and was promoted to Major in 2022.

Education
In 1998 Major Ervin graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She is a 2021 Public Safety Leadership Academy graduate from The Ohio State’s John Glenn College. She is a graduate of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class and is a Trilogy recipient from the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association.

Awards
In 2011 Major Ervin was awarded a Chief’s commendation for her role as the lead detective in a 2008 double homicide which resulted in the successful apprehension and prosecution of the two offenders. She was awarded the Rotary Officer of the Year in 2005 for her work with the ACTION program (Apartment Community Task Force in Our Neighborhoods), in 2011 for her work on a double homicide investigation with a successful prosecution, and in 2020 for her work as the administrative sergeant.
