Neal is a Fire/EMS Lieutenant with Unit 2. He oversees daily operations of the crew at Station 32, responds to fire and EMS incidents on front-line apparatus, and fills in for 1 of the 3 career captains at District 33. Neal is assigned specific duties related to EMS. These include continuing education seminars coordinator, CPR/AED program manager, EMS committee, and managing the department's online continuing education program.
Background
Neal's fire career with the City of Fairfield began in May 2006 when he was hired as a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. He was promoted to Fire/EMS Lieutenant in February 2015.
A 1997 graduate of Reynoldsburg High School in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Neal obtained his Associate's Degree in Fire Science from Columbus State College. He also attended The Ohio State University. He also graduated from the Columbus State Paramedic Education Program in 2004 finishing second in his class. He attended the Fire Academy at Columbus State Community College in 2002. He has taken multiple classes through the Ohio Fire Academy and Bowling Green State University, including Arson Investigator, Heavy rescue technician, Fire Officer 1 and Fire Officer 2. Neal is currently enrolled in the 2.5-year Ohio Fire Executive (OFE) Program by the Ohio Fire Chief's Association.
Prior to his full-time position with Fairfield, Neal was a career firefighter/paramedic with the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department in Loveland, Ohio. He was also a part-time firefighter/paramedic for the Hamilton Township Fire Department south of Columbus, Ohio.
Personal Interests/Family
A resident of Fairfield, Neal is married and has two children. He enjoys watching The Ohio State Buckeyes football team, spending time with family and friends, traveling, camping and hiking.
