As Fairfield’s Public Works Director, Ben oversees the department responsible for streets, storm sewer, traffic signals, public facilities, and the City fleet.  Public Works also administers the brush and leaf collection, snow removal, landscaping, street sweeping, and roadside mowing programs.  Engineering and construction of large public infrastructure programs is also supervised by Public Works.

Background

After graduating from The Ohio State University with a degree in Civil Engineering, Ben worked in the Columbus area as a project manager and estimator for an underground utility contractor. While working with an engineering consulting firm in the Dayton area, he designed a variety of public and private improvement projects throughout Ohio and Michigan. His project design work was centered around transportation projects for city, county and state authorities, but included a wide range of other projects such as water line, sanitary sewer, drainage studies and site design.  Ben served as Fairfield's City Engineer between 2005-2020.  During that time, he oversaw major infrastructure improvements including the reconstruction of the the Bypass and also the 2012 South Gilmore interchange project.  In 2017, Ben earned a Masters in Public Administration from Indiana Wesleyan.
