The Development Services Department is responsible for guiding planning functions in the city. The department is responsible for enforcing land use regulations, developing long-range plans to meet future citywide needs, and guiding physical development. Staff provides information and analysis to city officials to assist them in making decisions about growth and development of the community.
City planning functions include the following:
Apply design guidelines to commercial overlay districts
Coordinate all new development site plan reviews
Manage rezoning and planned unit development (PUD) requests, conditional use permits, and subdivision applications
Prepare and maintain the land use plan, thoroughfare plan and comprehensive plan
Prepare long-range and area plans
Provide geographic information systems (GIS) support
