Comprehensive Plan

Fairfield City Council adopted Fairfield Forward, the city's Comprehensive Plan, in December 2019.The plan guides the development and redevelopment of the City, and assists elected and appointed officials in making decisions related to planning and zoning, economic development, and capital improvement projects over the next 10-20 years.

Sustainability Plan

The City of Fairfield has developed a plan to ensure that Fairfield is maximizing its resources in a way that provides efficiency in city operations now and in the future. The plan, 'Fairfield Sustains', will serve as a comprehensive roadmap for addressing environmental, economic, and livability considerations in the city, and will be a catalyst for quality of life improvements for all residents. Among other things, the plan looks at energy usage in the community, open space preservation, resource protection, and economic sustainability initiatives.

Fairfield Connects Cover

Connectivity Plan 

Building on community input received during the Fairfield Forward comprehensive planning process, the City completed a connectivity master plan. The plan is focused on identifying opportunities to improve the walkability and bikeability of Fairfield. Known as Fairfield Connects, the plan will be a guiding document that informs the City’s decision-making process as transportation improvements are planned and completed.

Town Center Placemaking Strategy  

Fairfield Town Center is located around the Pleasant Avenue and Nilles Road intersection and serves as central commerce and gathering point for the community. The Placemaking Strategy provides recommendations for enhancing the built environment to create an inviting and vibrant Town Center area.

Marsh Park Master Plan 

A framework for implementation of the Marsh Park Master Plan was developed to provide guidance to fully understand and accomplish the goals of the Marsh Park Master Plan. In addition, several items are recommended for future studies to continuously improve Marsh Park for elements beyond the scope of this plan.

Pleasant-Nilles

Pleasant Avenue Corridor Study

The city completed a study of the Pleasant Avenue corridor between Nilles Road and Pleasant Run Creek. The study was conducted to examine the possibilities for improving the safety and streetscape quality and function in the area.

Route 4

North Route 4 Market Study 

The city commissioned Market Metrics LLC to conduct a market analysis of the North Route 4 corridor, focused north of Nilles Road to the City of Hamilton. The firm analyzed demographic and economic data to understand development trends and the strength of the local market.
