Stephen B. Maynard

Chief Stephen B. Maynard leads the Fairfield Police Department. A 27-year veteran of the Department, he started his career in 1999 as an officer. Prior to becoming Chief in February of 2018, he was a Lieutenant managing operations.Throughout his career with Fairfield PD, he has served in several roles. He was assigned to the Investigations Unit to conduct both general and specialized investigations. He was selected to serve as a field training officer and firearms instructor. For ten years, he was a leader of the Hamilton-Fairfield SWAT team. In 2008, he was promoted to sergeant where he worked as a third shift supervisor until he was selected for Lieutenant in 2015.
Education
Chief Maynard has an associate's degree from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor's degree from Ashland University. He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy and Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command.Awards
In 2013, Chief Maynard was awarded the Police Medal for his leadership in a dangerous tactical situation.

Amy Mays

Major Amy Mays leads the Community Services Division of the Fairfield Police Department. A 28-year law enforcement veteran, she joined Fairfield Police Department in 1999 after two years with the Fairfield Township Police Department. Promoted to Major in 2018, she brings a wealth of experience from her prior roles as detective, field training officer, evidence technician, department instructor, and supervisor of the bike patrol unit.Training
She has served as the Department's representative to the Butler County OVI Task Force since 2002, playing a key role in organizing OVI checkpoints and removing impaired drivers from city roadways. With a strong focus on traffic safety and enforcement, Major Mays has pursued numerous training opportunities in traffic crash investigations and is nationally accredited in accident reconstruction (ACTAR). She has also been instrumental in securing grant funding to support overtime traffic enforcement efforts, further advancing the Department’s commitment to roadway safety. A dedicated mentor, Major Mays has served as a field training officer since 2000, actively developing new officers and supervisors.Education
Major Mays holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice – Justice Administration, graduating summa cum laude. She is a graduate of the Butler Tech Peace Officer Academy (Top Gun Award), Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class. She has also earned the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award, recognizing her completion of advanced leadership training.Awards
Her distinguished service has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Police Medal, Rotary Officer of the Year, Chief’s Commendation, and a two-time recipient of the MADD Top Cop Award.

Rebecca Ervin

Major Rebecca Ervin leads the Support Services Division of the Fairfield Police Department which consists of the 911 call center (dispatch), records, property, the animal control officer, community relations, and the school resource officers. A 23-year veteran of the Department, she was promoted to Major in 2022 after holding various roles since 2002.Throughout her career with Fairfield PD, she has served in several roles. Major Ervin has been a detective, field training officer, bike patrol officer, and a member and supervisor of the evidence technicians. In 2018, she was promoted to sergeant where she supervised first and third shift patrol. In 2020, she was moved to the administrative sergeant position and was promoted to Major in 2022.
Education
In 1998 Major Ervin graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She is a 2021 Public Safety Leadership Academy graduate from The Ohio State’s John Glenn College. She is a graduate of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class and is a Trilogy recipient from the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association.Awards
In 2011 Major Ervin was awarded a Chief’s commendation for her role as the lead detective in a 2008 double homicide which resulted in the successful apprehension and prosecution of the two offenders. She was awarded the Rotary Officer of the Year in 2005 for her work with the ACTION program (Apartment Community Task Force in Our Neighborhoods), in 2011 for her work on a double homicide investigation with a successful prosecution, and in 2020 for her work as the administrative sergeant.

Michael Woodall

Major Michael Woodall leads the Operations Division of the Fairfield Police Department, overseeing road patrol officers and park rangers. He joined the Fairfield Police Department in 2002 after serving with three other police agencies and is currently in his 28th year of law enforcement service. Major Woodall was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2019 where he supervised personnel on all three shifts. In 2022, he was assigned as the Administrative Sergeant, overseeing administrative and operation support functions, until his recent promotion to major. He is committed to professional development, effective policing strategies, and strengthening community trust through accountable leadership.Training
Throughout his career, Major Woodall has served in a variety of specialized and leadership roles, including Field Training Officer, Detective, Firearms and Pepperball Instructor, and as an eleven-year member of the Hamilton-Fairfield SWAT Team. He brings a wealth of operational, tactical, and supervisory experience to his current role.Education & Awards
Major Woodall is a graduate of the Scarlet Oaks Police Academy where he received the Top Driver Award. He has completed the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety's Supervision of Police Personnel program and is a recipient of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award, recognizing his completion of advanced executive leadership training.
