It is estimated that thousands of youths abuse or sell medications that they obtain from the family medicine cabinet. Also, people often dispose of unwanted medications in an unsecured or improper manner. The Fairfield Police Department offers residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of unused medications.
A permanent drop box has been placed in the lobby of the Fairfield Police Department, and the box is available 24 hours a day. Residents should remove all pills from their original packaging and place them in a clear and sealable plastic bag before placing them in the drop box.

While most prescription and over-the-counter medications may be discarded in the drop box, residents should not use this service for the following:
Bloody or infectious waste
